Excuse me po!

I was 6 when I first visited the PGH for checkups. I had an unusually large mass on my left knee calf, and so frequent trips from Cavite to Manila were in order. It took almost a year before they decided it had to be excised. On the day of the operation to remove it, WKC FM (now iFM) was hosting an event, and DJ Baby Michael was there. Sometime later, I started seeing him on TV. We all came to know him now as Mike Enriquez.

With his iconic voice and amusing persona, Mike Enriquez made news relatable and accessible. He made news delivery easier for the common people to absorb and digest. The novelty of his reporting made him part of the Filipino household, gracing our dinner tables with his nightly public service.

Hindi man natutulog ang balita, kailangan ding magpahinga ng taga pagbalita. Paalam, Mike. You lived a life of public service, and you did great while you were at it.

May you rest in eternal peace.
